Cascadeur is a character-animation software developed by Nekki Limited, created as an internal animation tool for Nekki’s video games before being released publicly. It focuses on creating expressive, realistic character animation with a combination of traditional animation controls, physics-based tools, and AI-assisted features.

The software is particularly focused on reducing repetitive animation work while keeping animators in control of the creative process. Its AutoPosing tools can help establish character poses from animator input, while AutoPhysics analyzes an animation and suggests a more physically accurate version. Physics tools also cover center of mass, ballistic trajectories, ragdoll motion, fulcrum points, and interaction with environmental objects.

Cascadeur supports custom character rigs, animation editing, inbetweening, animation unbaking, retargeting, scene linking, and multiple export formats on paid plans. It also provides Python scripting and a Python API for automating operations and extending workflows, although the official documentation notes that API coverage is currently uneven.

The software runs on Windows, Linux, and Apple-silicon Macs, with a separate iOS application offering mobile animation capabilities.
