Create 3D game worlds in seconds with DeepMind’s Genie 3. Just type, and the AI brings lifelike virtual environments to life in real time.

Google DeepMind launched Genie 3 on 5 August 2025, a groundbreaking artificial intelligence system that lets you create 3D digital worlds. This new AI tool is getting attention for its ability to make more lifelike and stable virtual environments than ever before.

A Big Step Forward

With Genie 3, DeepMind is taking a big step forward in what AI can do. Previous models like Genie 2 had some weaknesses. They could only keep the video stable for about 10 to 20 seconds, and objects would sometimes disappear. But Genie 3 can remember objects and their positions for about a minute. If you leave a room in the virtual world and come back, everything should be the same.

How does Genie 3 work?

Designing a virtual world with Genie 3 is fast and simple. All you have to do is type what you would like the AI to show you, like a city at sunset or a forest filled with animals, and it develops a 3D environment within seconds. You are free to walk around and explore it. Even AI agents can move through the space and interact.

A new feature called “Promptable World Events” lets users change things easily through AI. Want it to start raining in your virtual world? Or add new characters? Just type in the command, and Genie 3 Veo makes it happen.

The visual quality is also better than before. The generated 3D will be shown in 720p resolution and run smoothly at 24 frames per second. This makes everything look and feel more real.

Experts say that these AI-built worlds can help in many ways. They can be used to train robots or other AI agents, give students new ways to learn, and create fun and creative game experiences.

DeepMind said this is a large step toward the way to what is known as artificial general intelligence, or AGI, a form of AI that would be capable of comprehending and learning any manner of thing that a person could learn.

Some Limitations Remain

Although Genie 3 is much better, it is not perfect. The model does not always perform well when it comes to very complicated actions and the display of detailed physical consequences. Take an example, when a skier goes down the mountain in a virtual world, the snow sometimes doesn’t feel like the one in the real world. Therefore, it is not ready to be used in very long simulations as of yet.

Genie 3 is not yet accessible to a wider audience at this point. It is only accessible to a few scientists and artists. They want to test it out and ensure it is safe before launching it further to the public.

Simply stated, Genie 3 is a huge advancement in the ability of AI to build and experience virtual worlds. It is a new technology, but it is already causing a buzz amongst AI researchers and game developers.
